It’s been a long standing tradition at the lake; we’re talking about the Fourth of July fireworks display over the McHenry Cove. If you’ve never had the opportunity to witness this spectacular event, pack up the family and head to Deep Creek Lake for a memorable July celebration.
Fire on the Mountain. Known to locals as the summer event of the season, families come from miles around to see the night sky light up over the waters of Deep Creek Lake. Launching from the Bear Claw Tube Park at Wisp Resort, the fireworks display is visible in most areas of McHenry. Year after year, this event continues to grow into something special. However, in the event of inclement weather, stay tuned to local radio and media partners for updates.
Best Views. The fireworks are easily visible from almost anywhere along Rt. 219 up to the bridge. For this celebration only, spectators may park along the highway during the late afternoon and evening hours. If you want to be directly beneath the action, setup at the Wisp Resort parking lot, which offers plenty of space for families to spread out and enjoy the festivities.
See even more fireworks. If you have other plans on the Fourth or just love fireworks, there is an opportunity to see additional fireworks in Garrett County on July 3. Just a short drive from Deep Creek Lake, the town of Oakland hosts a celebration true to it’s small town roots. Enjoy a LIVE performance from the Garrett County Concert Band and the Garrett Choral Society as they present patriotic renditions of classic American songs. Music starts at 7:30 and fireworks begin around 9:30 over Broadford Lake.
