Fork Run Recreational Trail


Located behind the Wisp, here you will experience some of the best single-track trails in Garrett County with approximately 9.5 miles designed specifically for the weekend hiker or mountain biker. The trail offers technical sections to challenge your skills along with a collection of ancient boulders to climb and repel. This trail a real hidden gem.

Deep Creek Trail


This newly devised trail is a short half-mile paved path that connects the Garrett County Visitor Center to Wisp Resort. This trail meanders along wetlands of the original Buffalo Swamp, a habitat that existed long before Deep Creek Lake came along in 1925.

Deep Creek Lake State Park Trails


With trails ranging for easy to difficult, take your pick at Deep Creek Lake State Park.  Guided walks and tours are available year round through the Discovery Center, located in the park. Walk to the historic Brant Mine or take the high road to the fire tower on the ridge top overlooking the lake.  These trails and manicured paths will leave you in love with nature.

Swallow Falls State Park


If you come to the mountains this is one trail system you can’t miss! Loved by locals and admired by visitors, this trail is regarded as one of the most scenic hikes in the area. The Canyon Loop Trail leads to Muddy Creek Falls, the highest waterfall in Maryland. The path continues along the creek past Swallow Falls as you meet up with the Youghiogheny River.  Keep walking to reach the quiet shores of Tolliver Falls, a somewhat secluded spot that many skip over.  Handicap accessible trail to Muddy Creek Falls is available.

The Accident Trail


Known for its odd name, Accident is a small town with a big heart.  Just minutes north on Rt. 219, the town welcomes casual hikers to enjoy the scenery within the town limits.  The hike takes you on a path of around town to see the likes of a “true” small town in America.
